Welcome and thanks to you all for coming tonight.

- Turnover for the year totalled $674,728.00 which is down from $742,878.00 for the previous year (-$68,150.00 or -9.18%) .
- Bar Trading is up 8.5% from the previous year. The signs in this area sit well.
- Poker Machines are down 12.5% from the previous year. A sign we believe is due to the economic situation and the level of free disposable incomes.
- Profit from continuing operations for the year was $23,002.00 – .Whilst this is less than last year there is no inflated figures resulting from last year’s insurance settlement. It is also worth noting that the expenses of operating the business are down from last year which highlights the efficiency and controls in club management.

Future Developments
Future developments will need to continue in order to continuously improve club facilities and services. Due to the economic uncertainty during the past year the club took a more wait and see approach to capital expenditure. I believe that this was the correct decision and I am sure the new Board will continue to be aware of the economic restraints on the community.
The club will in the medium term need to investigate improvements and expansions to club operating needs. Specifically, for cool room and bar trading facilities. The existing facilities are becoming a little tired and under sized for current needs.
The club has begun a support role for the development of the sporting fields at Balzer oval. This is chiefly earth works and landscaping to allow for the expansion of the junior soccer field to a full size field closer to club facilities. Keep your eye out for details soon.
The Board is conscious of current “Credit Crunch” issues facing the world. We will if need be prioritise and stage the above identified areas once costing’s are identified for works required.
Honourable Mentions
On behalf of the outgoing Board of Directors I would like to pay tribute to the Management and Staff (under the guidance of Bernadette Ross) for their remarkable efforts throughout the year. Bernie has led from the front and formed a cohesive, reliable and conscientious team. The control of expenses has been instrumental in assisting the club again turn a tidy profit for the year. I must also pay particular mention to Vera Byrne who I am sure has been of tremendous assistance to Bernie in achieving the results we have experienced this year. To all the other staff (Angie, Dylan, Holly, Danielle, Rocket; Andrew and Rob) thanks for your individual efforts.
The club would not be the same without the efforts of the Social Club led by our Social Director Rod Little and the never relenting Annabelle Crow for her special efforts in directing the various shows throughout the year as well as the most enjoyable Trivia Quiz’s. Of course without the multitude of actors and support workers within the Social Club none of the events would have been the success they were.
To the Committees of the various Sporting Bodies and Coaches who have shown leadership and guidance to all our sporting teams well done.
Of particular note to Andy Bain (our Sports Director) for his commitment to seeing the events are catered for and his between the lines negotiations with Council on the operations and improvements to Balzer Oval and sports equipment.
To the never ending band of Volunteers who assist during the year to see that the extra little things get done when required. They know whom they are so well done to you all and thanks.
To Scott and Kristen – Mayfields at Dunoon Restaurant. Thanks for your efforts in making a success of the restaurant.. You have assisted in contributing to the success of our club and have assisted in your own way of contributing to casual local employment by assisting our youth in gaining new employment skills.
To my fellow Board members – thanks for all the input and support shown throughout the year in making it another year of success.
I would like to finish by welcoming in the new Volunteer Board Members. Good luck with the directional decisions needed to be made and implemented during the 09 - 10 year.
Yours Sincerely
Brian Tarlinton
President
