Golf Club
PROFILE
Dunoon Social Golf is local non-profit group formed by members of the Dunoon Sports Club. The Club has a structure, there being a President, a Secretary/Treasurer, a Captain and a Handicapper. The club has approximately 30 names on the books, ranging from juniors (at least high school age) who are expected to be in the company of a parent when playing, and then up to any age.
We generally have around 17 games each year and visit the following courses:
BYRON BAY, OCEAN SHORES, MURWILLUMBAH, MULLUMBIMBY, CASINO, KYOGLE, ILUKA, YAMBA, MACLEAN, TENTERFIELD, and LISMORE.
The Tenterfield trip covers a weekend, generally in March each year, and is always sponsored by local business people. We play 18 holes Saturday and Sunday, we stay either in a Motel or in the Villa accommodation on the course.
The Lismore Golf Club is our home club where we play most of our rounds. These also include Championship rounds. We take the best three scores out of the five or six rounds we play at the Lismore course and then grade them into three grades.
BUS TRIPS
Mick McIntosh and the Modanville Bus transport us around the country side on our away games. The Bus Picks us up from the Dunoon Sports Club early on the Sunday morning and drops us back, later that day. There is a light hearted and social atmosphere on the bus which makes for a great day out. Many stories are told on the way home about the great shots we had, and also the bad ones, usually by somebody else.
THE GOLF CLUB
It is our intention that everybody who plays this game with us enjoys themselves in a very relaxed atmosphere. We play preferred lie everywhere and a maximum of 9 shots on each hole. By being a member of the Dunoon Sports Club, and by then paying a $5 fee to join the Social Golf Club, you will be assured of a great day out. We always finish the year with. a Christmas Party and presentation afternoon at the Dunoon Sports Club, which includes a meal and drinks in the company of members and families.
